St Abbans AC welcomed WAC

From the first event of the day with a 1,2,3 in the girls race walking to the very last event of the day with the u11 boys long jump and a 1,2,3 we saw Waterford AC feature throughout the day and came away with 8 individual golds as well as many more silver and bronze as well as medals in the relays.  On a very busy day both on the track and in the field we had coaches and parents spread between the hammer and discus cage, shot arae, the long and triple jump pits and the high jump area it was clear to see that WAC athletes were very competent and competitive in all these areas of T&F.

As well as many medals there were many PBs achieved and great fun was had by all on a very fine day.  Hats off to St Abbans AC on hosting an exceptionally well run event.  That is now our three primary targetted T&F preparation outings completed and now we go to championships confident and ready to compete with the best.  First stop will be Sunday May 12th at 11:30am in St Senans for day 1 of the Waterford county championships.

The picture below shows our U14 boys who competed in the high jump and the finishing height of 1.63m that James Murphy went out at having won the competition with a clearance of 1.60. Kyle pictured also jumped excellently to take 3rd place.  In the words of one of our younger crew....'it was scary how high James jumped'!!!!
