Munster Indoor Juvenile Pentathlon and Junior & U23 Championship


Munster Athletics held the Indoor Juvenile Pentathlon and Junior & U23 Championships in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sat 7th, Sun 8th & Sun 15th January

On the Saturday our 2 juvenile girls that competed in the Pentathlon had great success with Emily O’Mahony winning gold in the youth girls competition and Sarah Abullo winning silver in the U 11 girls.

The Junior men’s competition started with James Murphy taking Long Jump gold with a jump of 6.48m and Dion Ryan taking silver. Next up was the 60m and Lance Baylon took silver in a time of 7.40s. Dion Ryan took gold in the High Jump with a new pb of 2.02m . Next the 200m where Eoin Kenny was just pushed out to 4th position by 0.01s. This was forgotten when the team of Lance Baylon, Paul Sullivan, Eoin Kenny and James Murphy powered through to win the 4x200m relay in fine form. https://www.facebook.com/WaterfordAC/videos/1317745461632391/

 

Sunday saw some more great result for the club as Hayley Fitzsimons wins the U23 shot with a new indoor PB a great start to her indoor season.

Sisters Orla and Anna O’Connor take 1st and 2nd places respectively in the Junior Women’s Walk.

 

Sunday 15th was the day for the Junior Triple jump where in the Womens competition Grace Furlong was 1st and Emily O’Mahony 3rd. James Murphy was 2nd in the Mens Triple Jump. Our Juniors also stepped up to challenge the Seniors where Dion Ryan took 1st in the Senior Mens High Jump and Grace Furlong 3rd in the Senior Womens Long Jump.
